This chapter describes the hardware requirements, server environment requirements, and client tools requirements for Oracle RTD.
This chapter contains the following topics:
This section describes the hardware and network requirements for Oracle RTD.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the hardware and network requirements apply to Versions 2.2, 2.2.1, and 2.2.1.1 of Oracle RTD.
Oracle has certified acceptable performance in these environments; however, performance is improved by using faster processors and additional memory, particularly in environments where users run multiple applications simultaneously. These requirements should be used only as a guideline as they do not take into consideration various factors that affect scalability. Please consult your hardware vendor or Oracle Consultancy for capacity planning or sizing assistance.
Table 2-1 describes the hardware requirements for Real-Time Decision Server components for Windows, and Table 2-2 describes the hardware requirements for Real-Time Decision Server components for UNIX.
Table 2-1 Requirements for Real-Time Decision Server on Windows
Description | Requirement |
---|---|
Real-Time Decision Server - Application Server |
CPU and RAM: 2 servers that have 2+ GHz, 2 GB RAM, 2 or more processors recommended. Production deployment allots a separate server for the Learning Service. Disk Space: 20 GB of hard disk space, plus appropriate disk space for cache storage and log files. Temporary Disk Space: No minimum required. |

Two major software components required to run Real-Time Decision Server are an operating system and an application server.
Details of the supported combinations of operating system and application server appear in Supported J2EE Application Servers. See the Note in Supported J2EE Application Servers for guidelines about combinations not explicitly listed in that section.
Table 2-4 lists the J2EE application servers supported by Real-Time Decision Server and the versions of Java required on each operating system in Oracle RTD Version 2.2. Support for OC4J standalone 10.1.3.3 and Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.3 has been added in Oracle RTD Version 2.2.1.
