Adding Instance Info to a Binding

In order that client and peer applications should be able to ascertain whether they are capable of binding to a service instance, additional information about the instance needs to be added to the binding in the registry. Within the registry technical data is described using the tModel format. Instance info therefore specifies technical constraints using tModel keys.

Before you can publish instance information you need to have a registered account. You must also be logged in on that account. Finally you will need to have already published a Binding to which the instance information will be relevant.

To Add Instance Info...

  1. Navigate to the Binding's Instance Info tab.

    1. Once you have logged in the Publish tab will load. Click the Publish item in the menu.

    2. In the navigation tree to the left expand the Businesses node. Further expand the child Business node named for the provider. Then click and expand the child Service node named for the Service the binding of which you would like to edit. Finally, locate and click on the URL of the Binding node that you would like to modify.

    3. On the Edit binding page, click the Instance Info tab.

  2. Click the Add tModel instance info button.

  3. If you know the globally unique key that identifies the tModel for the information constraint enter it in the tModel Key edit box.

If you do not know the key you can locate it by clicking the Select tModel key button. This loads the Select tModel page which will return a tModel key into the edit box.

You can also add a brief description or a more complete overview document.

  4. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page. The Edit Instance Info page reloads.

  5. Click on the binding node in the left hand navigation frame. This will load the Edit Binding page where you will see the tModel added to the tModel Instance Info table.
