About File Path and Command Conventions

Environment variables and path placeholders for file paths are used throughout the Oracle Business Intelligence Infrastructure Installation and Configuration Guide.

Table 2 shows the format conventions for paths, navigation, and command execution used in this Guide.

Paths

OracleBI_HOME is the absolute path of the Oracle Business Intelligence Server installation directory. When you install Oracle Business Intelligence, the installation script queries for the drive and path to the installation directory. The script then installs the BI Servers on that drive and path.

OracleBIData_HOME is the absolute path of the data directory files.

For example, if you specified drive D: as the installation drive, then
OracleBI_HOME is D:\OracleBI, and
OracleBIData_HOME is D:\OracleBIData.

Path Navigation

(Procedural steps that ask you to navigate to a specified directory.)

Open a Command Prompt window and use the cd command to make the specified directory the current directory.

NOTE:  Do not use the Windows File Explorer to navigate to the directory.

For help with the cd command, enter the word help in the Command Prompt window and click Enter.

Command Execution

(Procedural steps that ask you to execute a command, unless specified otherwise.)

In a Command Prompt window, verify the current directory is correct and enter the command.

Do not run the command by entering it in the Run window in the Start Menu.
