Setting Up a Scratch Directory
The default Tomcat Server page is default.jsp. The Web Server tries to access a scratch directory to handle the jsp. If there is no scratch directory set up, you will get exceptions in the Web Server logs. This procedure explains how to set up a scratch directory for Tomcat and iPlanet servers.
- For Tomcat, use the workdir parameter. For example:
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.0-doc/config/context.html
- For iPlanet, use the scratchdir parameter. For example:
<param-name>scratchdir </param-name>
<param-value>/usr/iplanet/servers/https-wbsun054/ClassCache/https-wbsun054/analytics</param-value>
<web-app uri="/analytics" dir="/Sieb75Ana/SiebelAnalytics/Web/Servlet"/>
Testing the Tomcat Web Server Installation
Use the following procedure to test your configuration.
To test the Tomcat Web Server installation
- Start the Tomcat Server by executing the following command:
- Open a Web browser and attempt to browse to the location where you have installed Analytics Web. In the example, the URL is:
http://<
Server Name
>:8080/analyticsIf you see a login page, you have successfully installed Analytics Web.
NOTE: The port number (in the example procedure, 8080) is that on which a default installation of Tomcat 4.x listens. If your installation of Tomcat uses a different port, you need to change this value.
