Running the Installation Program in Console Mode

The following sections provide instructions for installing Guardian in console mode:

 

Before You Start

If you are upgrading from a previous version of Guardian to this release, you must install Guardian in a different location than the previous Guardian installation. Otherwise:

Oracle recommends that you back up your previous installation before proceeding, to ensure that your data is preserved.

 

Starting the Installation Program

Use the following procedure to install Guardian using Console Mode.

  1. Download the Guardian Installer from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/guardian/index.html.
  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Start the Installer.
    • For Windows:

      • At a Windows command prompt:

      guardian_installer.exe -i console

    • For Linux:

      • ./guardian_installer.bin i console

      This displays the first section of the Installation Wizard, in which you can select the locale for the installation.

  4. Set the locale and press Enter.

    5. The wizard proceeds to the Choose Install Folder section.

  5. Press Enter to accept the default or enter a fully qualified path for the installation.

    6. The wizard proceeds to the Choose Link Location section.

  6. Select the link location and press Enter.

    7. This proceeds to the Pre-installation Summary section.

  7. Review your installation details and press Enter to proceed.

    8. This proceeds to the Ready To Install section.

  8. Press Enter.
  9. Click Enter to dismiss the wizard.
