Key Components

• Configuration Expert - The Configuration Expert is the primary user interface. From the Configuration Expert, you can browse a list of components, select the components you are interested in using for a given application, and then generate and start the application (if applicable). In each selection phase, the minimum amount of information has to be entered. Every object selected "knows" the appropriate parameters suitable for the actual definition of the configuration. These objects (machines, resource managers) are stored in the configuration data file, which can then be shared between developers.

  The Configuration Expert is designed to provide as many default values as possible. The goal is to generate simple configurations that enable you as a developer to test the services you have built.

• Configuration Data Editor - The Configuration Data Editor provides you with a secondary interface so that you can add machines if needed to the Configuration Data file. This application has two modes: installation and maintenance. The Configuration Data Editor is displayed during installation to allow you to populate the default Configuration Data file. Once installation is complete, you can access a maintenance version of the Editor to add or update machine information in a Configuration Data file.

  The Configuration Data Editor uses an existing Configuration Data file as input, and outputs an updated Configuration Data file.

• Configuration Data File - The Configuration Data file stores environment configuration information about machines and resource managers, as well as handling the low-level configuration attributes for you automatically. The Configuration Expert then uses the Configuration Data file to create new configurations.
