A view lets you filter items and people on the Search page and in the Pathways Items and Pathways People portlets.
In general, you use your My Tags and Favorites & Contacts views to "recover" items and people, and you use the other types of views to "discover" items and people.

You must have the View My Tags capability to have a My Tags view. The tag lists in your My Tags view contain tags that you have applied to items and people. Note, however, that these tags may have also been applied to items and people by users other than yourself.
Note: Search results in your My Tags view only include items and people to which you have applied tags. If your search query includes references to tags that you have not applied to items and people, those references will not return any search results.

You must have the Add Favorites and Contacts capability to have a Favorites & Contacts view. Your Favorites & Contacts view lets you browse only items and people that you have added to your Favorites and Contacts lists, respectively. No other user can access your Favorites and Contacts lists. (In the Pathways Items and Pathways People portlets, the Favorites & Contacts view is divided into My Favorites and My Contacts views.)

To add an item to your Favorites & Contacts view, find the desired item in your search results and click Add on the row of that item. On the Search page, access your favorites by choosing Favorites & Contacts from the View drop-down list, then clicking the Items tab. (To view all of your favorites, choose the Favorites & Contacts view, then perform a search with a blank search query.)
To add a person to your Favorites & Contacts view, find the desired person in your search results and click Add on the row of that person. On the Search page, access your contacts by choosing Favorites & Contacts from the View drop-down list, then clicking the People tab. (To view all of your contacts, choose the Favorites & Contacts view, then perform a search with a blank search query.)
Note: Tag clouds in your Favorites & Contacts view only contain tags that have been applied to items in your Favorites list and people in your Contacts list.
You must have the Create Views capability to create a Custom View. Custom views are views that you can create that are windows into the My Tags views of one or more other people (members). When you use a Custom View, you can easily discover the documents and people that have been tagged by those members.
