Installation and Configuration

This document is written for users who want to add the BEA AquaLogic Pathways Browser Plug-in to their Web browsers. After installation, users can use the Pathways Browser Plug-in to perform Pathways searches. Search results are displayed in the Pathways Enhanced UI.

Installation Prerequisites

Installing the Pathways Browser Plug-in

To install the Pathways Browser Plug-in:

  1. (Pathways Browser Plug-in Beta customers only) Uninstall the Beta version of the Pathways Browser Plug-in.
  2. Ensure that you have a compatible browser installed before continuing the installation of the Pathways Browser Plug-in.
  3. Obtain the URL to the Pathways Enhanced UI Search page by performing the following (you will paste the URL into the Pathways Browser Plug-in installer in step 6):
    1. Log in to your BEA AquaLogic Interaction portal.
    2. Access the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI Search page.

      3. If you do not know how to access this page, ask your portal administrator.

    3. In your browser’s address bar, highlight then copy the entire URL of the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page.

      4. The URL should end with enhanced.xhtml.

  4. Double-click one of the following installer files:
    • (Firefox) PathwaysFirefoxPlug-in_v1-5.msi
    • (Internet Explorer) PathwaysIEPlug-in_v1-5.msi

      • The Pathways Browser Plug-in installer wizard’s Welcome wizard page appears.

  5. Click Next.
  6. Agree to the License Agreement, then click Next

    7. The Pathways Browser Plug-in Configuration wizard page appears.

  7. Paste the URL that you copied in Step 2 into the Pathways Browser Plug-in URL field, then click Next.

    8. Performing this step configures the Pathways Browser Plug-in to point to the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page on the Pathways Browser Plug-in server.

    The Confirm Installation screen appears.

  8. Click Next.

    9. The installer installs the Pathways Browser Plug-in.

  9. When the installation is complete, click Close to exit the installer wizard.
  10. From your browser’s View, Toolbars menu, enable the BEA AquaLogic Pathways Browser Plug-in.

    11. The plug-in is added to your browser.

 

Changing the Default Configuration of the Pathways Browser Plug-in

During installation, you configure the Pathways Browser Plug-in to point to the Pathways Enhanced UI search page, creating the Pathways Browser Plug-in’s default configuration. If the URL to your Pathways Enhanced UI search page has changed after installation, you should change the default configuration of the plug-in to point to the updated URL of the Pathways Enhanced UI search page.

Changing the Default Configuration (Internet Explorer)

To change the default configuration of the Pathways Browser Plug-in on Internet Explorer:

  1. Obtain the new URL to the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page by performing the following:
    1. Log in to your BEA AquaLogic Interaction portal.
    2. Access the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page.

      3. If you do not know how to access this page, ask your portal administrator.

    3. In your browser’s address bar, highlight then copy the entire URL of the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page.

      4. The URL should end with enhanced.xhtml.

  2. Click Preferences in your browser’s Pathways Browser Plug-in.

    3. The Preferences dialog box appears. It displays the information required for the Pathways Browser Plug-in to point to the Pathways server.

  3. Click Edit.

    4. The Edit Server Settings dialog box appears. It displays the URL of the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI Search page.

  4. Paste the URL that you copied in Step 1 into the Pathways URL field, then click Next.
  5. Click OK.

    6. The Preferences dialog box displays the updated information required for the Pathways Browser Plug-in to point to the changed updated URL of the Pathways server.

  6. Click OK.

    7. You are returned to your browser.

Changing the Default Configuration (Firefox)

To change the default configuration of the Pathways Browser Plug-in on Firefox:

  1. Obtain the new URL to the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page by performing the following:
    1. Log in to your BEA AquaLogic Interaction portal.
    2. Access the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page.

      3. If you do not know how to access this page, ask your portal administrator.

    3. In your browser’s address bar, highlight then copy the entire URL of the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI search page.

      4. The URL should end with enhanced.xhtml.

  2. Click Preferences in your browser’s Pathways Browser Plug-in.

    3. The Edit Server Settings dialog box appears. It displays the URL of the Pathways Browser Plug-in Enhanced UI Search page.

  3. Paste the URL that you copied in Step 1 into the Pathways URL field, then click Next.
  4. Click OK.

    5. You are returned to your browser.
