This section provides the following information:
End of Life: On December 31, 2003, WebLogic Platform, including WebLogic Server, stopped supporting IBM AIX 4.3.3 on IBM PowerPC, POWER3 and IBM PowerPC, POWER4. WebLogic Platform 7.0 SP4 is expected to be the final service pack issued for AIX 4.3.3. BEA recommends that current AIX 4.3.3 customers start using other certified releases of WebLogic Platform and WebLogic Server on AIX 5.1 or AIX 5.2 platforms. For more information, see WebLogic Platform End-of-Life Announcements.

UDP_SENDSPACE buffer size defaults to 9216 (9k). WebLogic Server sends fragments up to 32K. Using a buffer size smaller than 32 KB may cause an IO Exception.
|
1. Set the buffer size to 32 KB by running the following command:
no -o udp_sendspace=32768
2. Reboot WebLogic Server.

WebLogic Workshop on AIX does not support DB2.

Use a database other than DB2 if you want to run WebLogic Workshop on AIX. For information about supported databases, see Supported Database Configurations in Supported Configurations for WebLogic Platform 7.0.

Download and Installation Instructions
Before you can run WebLogic Platform 7.0 SP4 on an IBM AIX system, you must have an SDK configuration (base SDK plus fixes) at the following level: IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF: ca131-20030630a. This section provides instructions for:
Downloading and Installing the IBM SDK
- Go to the "Downloads: IBM developer kit" page on the IBM Web site:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/index.html
- From the list of platforms, select AIX.
The "IBM Developer's Kits for AIX, Java Technology Edition" page is displayed.
- In the menu on the right side of the page, click "Download."
A table containing a list of kits is displayed.
- In the Java Version column, click "1.3.1."
The "IBM AIX Developer Kit and Runtime, Java Technology Edition" page is displayed, prompting you to log in.
- Log in to the site with your user ID and password.
A list of the filesets that make up the IBM SDK 1.3.1 is displayed.
- Download and install the filesets listed under "IBM AIX Developer Kit Base code."
Now the SDK is installed on your system. Keep the current window open on your screen so you can continue to the next procedure, Downloading and Installing the IBM SDK Fixes.
Downloading and Installing the IBM SDK Fixes
- From the list of links for various tasks at the top of the page (before the list of filesets), click "How and where to get fixes."
The "SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTFs since GA" section is displayed. This section provides a list of the fixes that raise the SDK version to the level required for running WebLogic Platform 7.0 SP4: IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF: ca131-20030630a.
Note: While this page is displayed, be sure to read the information about the cumulative nature of these fixes in "Important Information about Java/AIX."
- Click "Fix Delivery Center for AIX 5 and AIX 4.3."
The "IBM eServer pSeries Support" page is displayed. (http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/aix.fdc)
- Set the search criteria to the following:
- OS level: From the drop-down list, select the appropriate OS level.
- Search by: APAR number or abstract
- Search string: IY47055
- In the drop-down box, select "IY47055 - (AIX 4.3.3. only) SDK 1.3.1 32-bit cal31-20030630a."
- Click "Proceed to packaging."
- Complete the Packaging options as directed.
- Click "Proceed to download page."
- Follow the instructions to download the fix package.
- Verify that the package is applied by running the following command:
$ instfix -ivqk IY47055
If you have installed any other APARs, as per the instructions on the IBM Web site, verify that they, too, are applied, by running the instfix
command with the -ivqk
options.
- Verify that the required SDK version (IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF: ca131-20030630a) is now installed on your system by running the following command:
/usr/java131/bin/java -version
