AIX 5.1 on PowerPC, POWER3 and POWER4 with WebLogic Server 7.0.0.1

Provides full support for WebLogic Server. WebLogic Workshop, WebLogic Integration, and WebLogic Portal are not supported. See below for Design and Development Tools support.

Some of the functions in the weblogic.Admin utility do not work properly with IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF 1 (IY30887) when you turn on JIT.

Apply IBM efix IY33728. See Downloading and Installing IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF 1.

The Net installer for AIX is not available for this release.

See Installing WebLogic Server 7.0.0.1.

WebLogic Server does not support the ORB provided with the IBM SDK.

Use the WebLogic Server ORB implementation. To invoke it, specify the following command on the Client side:

-Dweblogic.system.iiop.enableClient=true

WebLogic Server uses its own JSSE implementation to handle SSL communication. If, however, you use IBM's JSSE implementation as the java extension, the WebLogic Server JSSE implementation does not work properly.

Make sure that you remove ibmjsse.jar from the jre/lib/ext directory of your SDK installation which is used to run WebLogic Server.

Servers may fail on startup with a broken pipe or a connection reset by a peer.

Try removing the loopback entries from the default routing table. For more information, see http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21040968

The default buffer size for UDP_SENDSPACE is 9216 (9 KB), but fragments sent by WebLogic Server may be up to 32 KB, so using a buffer size smaller than 32 KB may cause an I/O exception.

    1. Set the buffer size to 32 KB by issuing the following command:
    no -o udp_sendspace=32768

    2. Reboot WebLogic Server.

IBM JVM Updates For DST

Download and Installation Instructions

To run WebLogic Server 7.0 on an AIX 5.1 configuration on PowerPC, POWER3 or PowerPC, POWER4, you must first install the IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF 1 on your system. This section provides instructions for downloading and installing this SDK, and for then installing WebLogic Server.

Downloading and Installing IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF 1

Note: This patch is no longer available from IBM, but BEA will continue to support customers who obtained it in the past and are still using it.

IBM is providing an efix for IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF 1 (IY30887) that fixes the BEA reported PMR 74336,001,866. If you are using IBM SDK 1.3.1 32-bit PTF 1 (IY30887), you need to apply the PTF for APAR IY33728.

  1. Download the PTF for APAR IY33728 in the installp format from the following FTP site:

    2. ftp://service.software.ibm.com/aix/efixes/iy33728/

    IBM plans to include this efix in the next PTF release. So at that time, this FTP site will be discontinued. You can then install the next IBM SDK 1.3.1 PTF release to get this efix. The README file at the above FTP site provides information on how to install the efix and when the next PTF release will be available.

  2. Verify that the PTF for APAR IY33728 is applied using the following command:

Installing WebLogic Server 7.0.0.1

The commands used to install WebLogic Server vary from one operating system to another. In addition, command-line parameters vary to accommodate the three modes of installation available with WebLogic Server: graphical mode, console mode, and silent mode.
