Known Issues

BEA SmartUpdate cannot be used—The BEA SmartUpdate tool cannot be used to upgrade your WebLogic Platform software from a pre-SP6 version to SP6 on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise on Itanium configuration. Therefore, instead of SmartUpdate use the upgrade installer, if you want to upgrade your existing WebLogic Platform 8.1 software to SP6.

WebLogic Platform 8.1 SP6 Installation Instructions

To install WebLogic Platform 8.1 SP6 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, Data Center on Itanium:

Go to the BEA download site:

http://commerce.bea.com

Click on "BEA WebLogic" link which takes you to the "BEA WebLogic Product Family" page, then click on "BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 SP6".

From the list of OS Platforms, select Microsoft Windows Itanium (2003, Itanium).

Download the platform816_win64.exe package installer.

Install WebLogic Platform following the instructions provided in the Starting Graphical-Mode Installation for .bin Installation Files section of Installing WebLogic Platform: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13196_01/platform/docs81/install/guimode.html
