Clone master data entries

You can clone, or copy, a set of master data entries and then globally change selected attributes in those cloned master data entries. This can save a lot of time if you want to create a new set of master data entries which is largely similar to existing entries. For example, if you open a new retail store based on an existing store, you might want to retain most of the Business Location master data entry attribute values but globally change the city and street address.

To clone master data entries:

  1. Find the master data entries you want to clone. There are two ways to do this:
  2. On the Master Data Entries page, select the check boxes next to the master data entries you want to clone.
  3. Click Clone.

The Required Changes for Cloning Entries page is displayed. This page lists the cloned master data entries' new names and IDs, based on the original names and IDs. You can change the new names and IDs, but these are required fields so you cannot make them blank. Further, the IDs must be unique for the current type of master data entry.

  4. If you want to globally change the values of selected attributes in all the cloned master data entries, skip to step 5, below. If you just want to review the cloned entries or make changes to individual entries, click Review. Then:
    1. If you are satisfied with the names and IDs and do not need to make any further changes, click Finish.
    2. If you want to view or edit the details of one of the cloned entries, click its name. On the Cloned Master Data Entry Details page, make any desired changes, then click Accept Changes.
    3. Review or edit other cloned master data entries, as desired. When finished, click Finish.
  5. If you want to globally change the values of selected attributes in all the cloned master data entries, click Next. Then:
    1. On the Provide Common Attribute Changes page, select one or more attributes whose values you want to change from the Select Attribute drop-down list. The attributes are added to the table below Select Attribute.
    2. For each attribute in the table, click in the New Value field and change the value, as desired. The new values will be copied to all the cloned master data entries.
    3. Click Next. On the Review new entries before finishing page, you can click an individual cloned entry to make changes to it alone. When finished, click Finish.
