View and edit master data entries

Master data entries identify real entities in a supply chain, for example a specific business location or a specific readpoint. Master data entries are created based on the structure of master data types. A type of attribute is defined in the master data type, and a value is assigned to that attribute in the master data entry. For example, the Business Location master data type includes the attributes "Business location city" and "State or province." A master data entry based on the Business Location type can contain values to identify a real place, for example, "New Orleans" and "LA."

Therefore, the types of possible master data entries correspond exactly to the types of master data types. Because of this, master data entries are organized by master data types in the Console. To see lists of master data entries, you must first select the master data type on which the master data entries are based.

To display a list of master data entries based on a master data type:

  1. In the left pane of the Console, click or expand Master Data Entries.

If you click Master Data Entries, the Master Data Entries Summary page is displayed. That page lists the master data types on which the master data entries are based. That page also lists the number of master data entries that exist for each master data type.

If you expand Master Data Entries, a simple list of the master data types on which the master data entries are based is displayed.

  2. Click the name of the master data type on which the master data entries you want to see are based.

A Master Data Entries page for the selected master data type is displayed. This page lists the only those master data entries that were created from the selected master data type. If you want to view master data entries based on a different master data type, repeat step 1 and step 2.

  3. On the Master Data Entries page, click the name of the master data entry you want to view or edit.
  4. On the Master Data Entry Details page, edit the details of the master data entry.
