Key Components

The Active Expert consists of the following components:

• Application Builder-An application development tool with a graphical user interface (GUI) for building Windows based, TUXEDO clients using the Active Expert. You use the Application Builder along with a client development tool (such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, or PowerBuilder) to select which TUXEDO services you want your application to interact with. The Application Builder is your primary interface to the Active Expert. (The Application Builder relies on the Contract Repository for access to TUXEDO services. • Run-time Environment - The Active Expert run-time is a set of DLLs that act as a translator between your application and the TUXEDO Application-to-Transaction Monitor Interface (ATMI), transforming TUXEDO services into ActiveX/OLE methods and vice versa. The run-time environment provides interoperability between the TUXEDO environment and the OLE environment. The Contract Repository (also used during application development) is the run-time source of TUXEDO service interface information.
