public abstract class PluginTriggerPanel
extends PluginPanel

Defines a plugin-provided start or event node GUI component. Used by the StartProperties and EventProperties Studio dialogs. Plugins that use the default event watch registration and correlation scheme should check in their PluginPanel.validateAndSave() implementation that a suitable event key is defined, by calling PluginPanelContext.checkEventKey(java.lang.String, java.lang.String, boolean).

Constructor Detail

PluginTriggerPanel

protected PluginTriggerPanel(java.util.Locale lc,
                             java.lang.String helpID)
Create a new PluginTriggerPanel.

Parameters:
lc - The locale for the panel.
helpID - The help topic ID for the panel. This must match one of the JavaHelp keys or HTML file names provided by the plugin's online help set.
Method Detail

getFields

public java.lang.String[] getFields()
Return the list of field names associated with the event (if known). If this list is non-null, the owning start or event properties dialog passes it to the expression builder. The default implementation returns null.

Returns:
An array of field names.

getEventDescriptor

public java.lang.String getEventDescriptor()
Return a plugin-defined string that characterizes the event data for which the node is watching. The expression evaluator passes this event descriptor to any instances of the corresponding PluginField implementation class specified by the FieldInfo object supplied by the StartInfo or EventInfo object from which this PluginTriggerPanel was generated. The default implementation returns null.

Returns:
An event descriptor string in a plugin-defined format.
