Update a Content File in a Library Services-Enabled Repository

In addition to modifying the content properties associated with a content item, you can also update the binary file (if any) that is associated with the content item. When you modify the file that is associated with the content item, you download it to your local machine, make any changes, and then upload the file back to the repository.

Before you modify a content item you must first check it out from the Content Repository tab. After you check out an item, it appears in the My Checked Out Items folder within the Content Workspace.

To update a content file within a library-services enabled repository,

  1. Select the content item you want to update.
  2. In the View Content tab, click Check Out.
  3. In the Editor pane, select the Create and Edit Content tab.
  4. In the Update Content Item window, edit the appropriate field. The field that contains the binary content file will have the following options:

Delete Deletes the associated content file.
    Replace

  6. After modifying the downloaded file, or choosing to replace the existing file, use the Browse button to browse to the location of the new content file.
  7. Optionally, if you aren't ready to check in a new version of the content item, choose Save. Your changes won't be available to other content administrators until the content item is checked in.
  8. To make your changes available to other content administrators, click Save and Check In. The Check In dialog displays.
  9. In the Check In dialog box, change the status of the content item, if appropriate.
  10. Click Check In.
