Updating a Content File

In addition to modifying the content properties associated with a content item, you can also update the binary file (if any) that is associated with the content item. When you modify the file that is associated with the content item, you download it to your local machine, make any changes, and then upload the file back to the repository.

To update a content file,

  1. Select the content item you want to update.
  2. In the Editor pane, select the Create and Edit Content tab.
  3. In the Update Content Item window, edit the appropriate field. The field that contains the binary content file will have the following options:
  4. Option Button: Usage Notes:
    Download

    Allows you to download the associated content file to a specified location.

    Use this option if you want to modify the existing binary file.

    Delete Deletes the associated content file.
    Replace

    Allows you to replace the content file with a different file.

    Use this option if you want to replace the existing binary file with a different file.

     

  5. After modifying the downloaded file, or choosing to replace the existing file, use the Browse button to browse to the location of the new content file.
  6. When finished with your changes, scroll down and click Update.
