WebLogic Server Installation Instructions for HP-UX

Use the following steps to install WebLogic Server 6.1 SP3 on a HP-UX 11.22 Itanium operating system:

  1. Download JVM 1.3.1.06 or higher from www.hp.com.
  2. Install the JDK in your environment.
  3. To download this platform, see Distribution and Installation Information.
  1. Install WebLogic Server 6.1 SP3. Use the following command to unpack the archive and start the installer.
  2. java -cp weblogic610sp3_generic.zip install -i console

  3. Install WebLogic Server 6.1 SP3 for your environment using the installation instructions.
  4. Note: Set the name of the directory for BEA Home as the value of the environment variable BEA_HOME. Example: BEA_HOME=/opt/bea; export BEA_HOME. The default configuartion provided by the installer is recommended.

  5. Export the BEA_HOME variable to point to the WebLogic installation.
  6. $ export BEA_HOME=/your_installation_directory

  7. Change directory to $BEA_HOME
  8. $ cd $BEA_HOME

  9. Extract the contents of the weblogic610sp3_hpipf_supp.jar file. This step will overwrite some shell scripts and create new directories for the native libraries built on the HP-UX 11i v1.6 platform.
  10. $ jar -xvf weblogic610sp3_hpipf_supp.jar

  11. Replace @BEA_HOME and @JAVA_HOME with the vaule of BEA_HOME and JAVA_HOME for following shell scripts:
  12. $WL_HOME/lib/unix/nodemanager.sh

    $WL_HOME/config/examples/setExamplesEnv.sh

    $WL_HOME/config/examples/startExamplesServer.sh

    $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/setEnv.sh

    $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/startWebLogic.sh

    $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/startManagedWebLogic.sh

    $WL_HOME/config/petstore/startPetStore.sh

    $WL_HOME/config/startNodeManager.sh

    $WL_HOME/samples/examples/tutorials/migration/banking/setMigrationEnv.sh

    where WL_HOME=$BEA_HOME/wlserver6.1.

  13. Set the correct execution modes on the contents of the WL_HOME/bin and WL_HOME/lib directories. Example:
  14. $ chmod +x $WL_HOME/bin/*

    $ chmod -R +x $WL_HOME/lib/hpux11/*

  15. Verify the installation. Please refer to Performing Post-Installation Tasks.
