BEA WebLogic Server™ Fast Track for WebLogic jCOM

WebLogic jCOM is a new WebLogic Server feature. WebLogic jCOM is a bi-directional COM-Java bridging tool that enables you to access Component Object Model (COM) components as though they were Java objects, and to access pure Java objects as though they were COM components. Developers can create client applications with Microsoft COM development tools such as Visual Basic that can access business logic in WebLogic Server. To help you get started we've created examples (including code and supporting files) with step-by-step instructions.

Once you complete the installation of WebLogic jCOM, use the following information to get started using jCOM.

Fast Track Example

The Fast Track example, found in the samples directory of the WebLogic jCOM installation, requires minimal user configuration and quickly allows you to see how WebLogic jCOM enables a VBA Excel client to access an EJB deployed on WebLogic Server. The example describes a zero client installation, both for a single and distributed system configuration.

COM Migration

If you previously used COM and now want to migrate to WebLogic jCOM, see the COM Migration Example in the samples directory of the WebLogic jCOM installation.

Detailed Examples

For more detailed examples, see these items in the WebLogic jCOM installation directory under samples:

Zero Client Install Example provides a more detailed description of the Fast Track Example.

Late Bound Example describes late binding, both for a single and distributed system configuration.

Early Bound Example describes early binding, both for a single and distributed system configuration.
