WebLogic SNMP monitors poll WebLogic Server MBeans at a specified interval to check for the occurrence of conditions or the crossing of thresholds. When a monitor detects the specified condition, it sends a trap to the configured trap destinations.
This page summarizes the SNMP monitors that have been configured for the current domain.
A managed bean (MBean) is a Java bean that provides a generic management interface based on Java Management Extensions (JMX). All WebLogic resources provide MBeans and the WebLogic SNMP agent uses this JMX interface to retrieve monitoring data.
You can create the following types of SNMP monitors:
A gauge monitor periodically polls an attribute whose value is an integer or floating-point and compares the attribute value with a high and a low threshold that you define. It generates a trap if the attribute value is equal to or exceeds the high or low threshold.
A counter monitor periodically polls an attribute whose value is an integer and compares the attribute value with a high threshold that you define. It generates a trap if the attribute value equals or exceeds the high threshold. You can also configure an offset or modulus, which increases or decreases the threshold each time the threshold is crossed.
Creating a WebLogic SNMP monitor offloads polling of WebLogic resources from the SNMP management station to the Administration Server.
