Create messaging bridge instances

Before you begin

A messaging bridge instance communicates with the configured source and target bridge destinations. For each mapping of a source destination to a target destination, whether it is another WebLogic JMS implementation, or a third-party JMS provider, you must configure a messaging bridge instance. Each instance defines the source and target destination for the mapping, a message filtering selector, a quality of service (QOS), transaction semantics, and reconnection parameters.

To create a messaging bridge instance:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the console, expand Services > Messaging and select Bridges to open the Summary of Messaging Bridges page.
  3. Click New.
  4. On the Create a New Bridge: Bridge Properties page, define the properties that will identify your new messaging bridge instance.

Note: Once you create a messaging bridge instance, you cannot rename it. Instead, you must delete it and create another one that uses the new name.

  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Create a New Bridge: Select or Create a Source Bridge Destination page, select a source destination from the drop-down box.

If the drop-down box is empty or does not contain the source destination you need, click New Destination, create a source destination, and then select the source destination from the drop-down box.

  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Create a New Bridge: Select the Messaging Provider for the Source Destination page, select a message provider from the drop-down box.
  9. Click Next.
  10. On the Create a New Bridge: Select or Create a Target Bridge Destination page, select a target destination from the drop-down box.

If the drop-down box is empty or does not contain the target destination you need, click New Destination, create a target destination, and then select the target destination from the drop-down box.

  11. Click Next.
  12. On the Create a New Bridge: Select the Messaging Provider for the Target Destination page, select a message provider from the drop-down box.
  13. On the Create a New Bridge: Targetting this Messaging Bridge page, select a target for your messaging bridge instance.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Review any additional interoperability guidelines.
  16. Click Finish.
  17. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

After you finish

You may need to manually implement some of the interoperability guidelines that apply when using the messaging bridge to access destinations on different releases of WebLogic Server and in remote WebLogic domains. See Interoperating with Different WebLogic Server Releases or Foreign Providers.
