Enable jCOM

Before you begin

Enabling the jCOM protocol for a server instance is one of several steps needed for bidirectional access between modules on a WebLogic Server instance and Microsoft ActiveX components, Visual Basic and C++ objects, and other COM/DCOM environments. See Programming WebLogic jCOM.

To enable and configure the jCOM protocol for a WebLogic Server instance:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the Administration Console, expand Environments and select Servers.
  3. On the Servers page, select a server.
  4. On the Servers: Protocols: jCOM page, enable the jCOM protocol by checking the Enable COM check box.
  5. Modify default values for the other attributes.

    See Configuration Options.

  6. Click Save.
  7. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
