public class FileField
extends CompletionTextField

A FileField is a text field that provides an insight list making it easy to enter filenames via the keyboard.

This component can be used anywhere a text field requiring the user to enter a filename is used. You should, however, always provide an alternative way of entering a filename (usually a Browse... button that invokes a file chooser.

You can make this field validate that a file name is an existing file as the user types by setting the setValidateExistingFile(boolean) property to true. If the field content does not refer to an existing file, then the field text will be red underlined. By default, this behavior is off, which makes sense for fields in which the user is specifying a new file path.

isTextValid

protected boolean isTextValid()

Returns true if the current text in the field is valid. If the text is not valid, then the text in the field will be highlighted with a wavy red underline.

This method will be called periodically to determine whether the current field contents are valid. This implementation returns true always, unless the validateExistingFile property is true, in which case it returns true if the text in the field corresponds to a file that exists.
