The Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) provides better support experience through transparent and automatic upload of configuration information to Oracle. The OCM collector must be configured to upload this information.

Ensuring the OCM Collector Is Installed and Configured

The OCM Collector is deployed in both the grid home (default location: /u01/app/11.2.0/grid), as well as the Oracle Database home (/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1).

Insure the OCM Collector is configured in both of the Oracle product homes:

/u01/app/11.2.0/grid
/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1

The OCM Collector was configured if the utility ccr/bin/configCCR exists in the Oracle product home.

If the OCM collector is not configured, then refer to the steps in the Oracle Configuration Manager Installation and Administration Guide located at (http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/ocm.html) to configure the Oracle Configuration Manager.

For Oracle Real Application Cluster (Oracle RAC) database, all systems participating in the cluster must have the OCM Collector configured.

Updating to the Latest OCM Collector

The support for collections specific to Sun Oracle Database Machine require a manual upgrade of the software. To accomplish this upgrade, perform the following steps:

Log in to My Oracle Support (http://support.oracle.com).
Download the most current version of the Oracle Configuration Manager from My Oracle Support Collector tab.

For each of the product homes, run the command:

ccr/bin/emCCR update_components –distribution=<downloaded-update>

where <downloaded-update> is the distribution that was downloaded from the My 
Oracle Support Collector tab

Instrumenting the Database

The Oracle database instances running on the Sun Oracle Database Machine system require a one-time only instrumentation. Perform the instrumentation after the OCM Collector has been updated to the latest release.

The database instrumentation is performed by invoking the command:

ccr/admin/scripts/installCCRSQL.sh collectconfig -s <sid> -r <sysdba-account-pwd>

where 
<sid> is a database instance
<sysdba-account-pwd> is the password for an account that holds SYSDBA privilege

For an Oracle RAC database, the instrumentation only needs to be performed on one instance.

Note: Instrumentation must be performed on each database for configuration collections to be performed.
