1 Introduction to Exachk for Exalogic

This chapter contains the following sections:

1.1 Purpose and Scope of Exachk

Exachk is a health-check tool that is designed to audit important configuration settings in an Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud machine. Exachk examines the following components:

  • Compute nodes

  • Storage appliance

  • InfiniBand fabric

  • Ethernet network

  • Exalogic Control vServers (relevant only in virtual configurations)

  • Guest vServers (relevant only in virtual configurations)

Exachk audits the following configuration settings:

  • Hardware and firmware

  • Operating system kernel parameters

  • Operating system packages

You must run Exachk for Exalogic in the following conditions:

  • After deploying the machine

  • Before and after patching or upgrading the infrastructure

  • Before and after making any changes in the system configuration

  • Before and after any planned maintenance activity
