Setups for Oracle Mobile Field Service Store and Forward - Pocket PC

This chapter covers the following topics:

Personalizing Screens

Administrators can personalize certain screens. After personalization, the modified screens are available at site or responsibility level. All technicians with this responsibility inherit this personalization.

To Download the MFSPerzAsst.exe Utility

  1. Uncomment the section in the setup.inf file under folder $CSM_TOP/html/download/CSW2/custom/wce/wm6 to download the MFSPerzAsst.exe file to the Pocket PC client.

  2. Increase the version of the setup.inf file.

  3. Synchronize from your administrator's Pocket PC to download MFSPerzAsst.exe to that Pocket PC.

To Personalize Pocket PC Screens with MFSPerzAsst.exe

  1. In your administrator's Pocket PC, navigate to the ORACE folder.

  2. Tap MFSPerzAsst.

    The MFS Personalization screen appears.

  3. From the list of personalizable screens, select the one that you want to edit. Currently Task Details and SR Details are available.

  4. If you want to load the last saved personalization, tap Load Saved.

  5. If you want to restore the original settings, tap Load Default.

  6. In the Data Field column, select the check box for a field that you want to show, and clear the check box for a field that you want to hide.

  7. In the Mandatory column, use the LOV to select Yes, No, or Not Applicable for each field. Not Applicable means that a field cannot be made mandatory or non-mandatory by personalization.

  8. Tap Up and Down to change the field order in the screen.

  9. Click Save to save the personalization.

  10. Click Close to close and exit the MFS Personalization screen.

To Propagate a Personalized Screen

  1. Copy the personalization delta file, *.per, from the \Orace\config folder of your administrator's Pocket PC to the server folder $CSM_TOP/html/download/CSW2/custom/wce/wm6.

  2. Uncomment the section in the setup.inf file to download the .per file to a technician's Pocket PC.

Setting Up Wireless Integration

Through integration with Oracle Mobile Field Service Wireless, the Pocket PC can access some screens from the Wireless application. Use this procedure to set up the integration.

Prerequisites

To Set Up Wireless Integration

  1. Set the following profiles:

    • CSM: Mobile Field Service Wireless URL

This specifies the URL of the wireless server. The typical format of this URL is http(s)://<ebs_host>:<port>/OA_HTML/csfw.jsp

    • CSM: Enable Online Access

Possible values are Y and N. Set the value to Y so that the menu displays the options to access the wireless application functions.

  2. Verify the installation of InstallMFSNavigator.

The normal installation of the Oracle Mobile field Service application automatically installs the InstallMFSNavigator.cab component on a Pocket PC. To check this, navigate to Start > Settings > Remove Programs, and verify that the entry "Oracle InstallMFSNavigator" is on the list.

Setting Up Automatic Synchronization and Notification

Both the laptop and Pocket PC store & forward devices have the feature of automatic synchronization and associated notification. Use this procedure to set it up.

To Set Up Automatic Synchronization

  1. Set the following profiles:

    • CSM: Automatic Synchronization Interval for Data Download:

    • CSM: Automatic Synchronization Interval for Data Upload:

    • CSM: Email Account name for message interception:

Set up an e-mail account to receive notification e-mails

  1. Set the account display name of this e-mail account as the value of profile "CSM: Email Account name for message interception". This is required to intercept the e-mails in the Pocket PC.

  2. Ensure that the following parameters are set in the E-mail Setup window:

    • Message format: Plain Text

    • Message download limit: Entire message

    • Download attachments: Do not download

Verify the installation of InstallAutoSync

The normal installation of the Oracle Mobile field Service application automatically installs the InstallAutoSync.cab component on a Pocket PC.

  1. To check this, navigate to Start > Settings > Remove Programs, and verify that the entry "Oracle InstallAutoSync" is on the list.

Run AutoSync Manager (ASMgr)

AutoSync Manager (ASMgr) manages automatic synchronization. External Interface Manager (EIM) intercepts e-mail messages. Normally the startup of the Field Service application automatically launches AutoSync Manager (ASMgr) and External Interface Manager (EIM) in the background.

  1. Verify that the ASMgr icon, with up and down arrows, appears near the top of the Start screen and that the EIM icon, a plug, appears near the bottom right of the screen.

  2. On startup of the device, AutoSync Manager (ASMgr) is launched, and you must enter your user name and password in the Login screen.

    ASMgr then automatically starts EIM.

  3. Alternatively, you can launch ASMgr directly from /OraCE by tapping ASMgr.exe.

Setting Up Usability and Security

The Pocket PC store & forward device has several features of usability and security. Use this procedure to set them up.

  1. Set the following profiles. For details about these profiles, see "Setting Up Profile Options for Oracle Mobile Field Service Store and Forward - Pocket PC."

    • CSF: Restrict Service Request Creation to Scheduled Sites

    • CSF: Mandatory Labor Debrief (Y/N)

    • CSF: Default Labor Debrief Date/Time (Scheduled Date, System Date, None, Assignment Status)

    • CSF: Default Service Activity Code for Travel

    • CSF: Default Service Activity Code for Labor

Setting Up Cross-Task Validation Rules

Administrators have the ability to set up and define cross-task validation rules that govern updates to task assignment statuses. Doing so prevents tasks for different customer sites being in the same status in a technician’s trip on any specific day.

To Set Up Cross-Validation Rules

  1. Navigate to the Cross Task Validation Setup window.

  2. In the Assignment Status LOV for each rule row, select a status that technicians are not allowed to apply to more than one task and more than one site on any single day.

The Assignment Status LOV displays all statuses that have the Task status and Task Assignment status flags selected.

  3. Optionally, select a start date and end date for a status rule.

  4. Click Add Another Row if you want to create a new rule.

  5. Click Apply to save your setup data.

The application blocks technicians who try to violate a cross-validation rule and displays an explanatory message.
