Preface

The Suntrademark Dual Port 4x IB Host Channel Adapter PCI-ExpressModule User's Guide provides detailed procedures for installing the hardware and software for the Sun IB-Host Channel Adapter PCI-ExpressModule. This manual includes an overview of the adapter, supported platforms, cable information, and related documentation.

This document is written for enterprise system administrators with experience installing network hardware and software.



Note - The Sun IB-Host Channel Adapter PCI-ExpressModule card is an InfiniBand (IB) host channel adapter (HCA) card. The adapter is referred to as IB-EM in this manual.




How This Document Is Organized

Chapter 1 provides a description of the adapter.

Chapter 2 details how to install the adapter card and cables, and how to verify the installation.

Chapter 3 contains information for configuring Internet Protocol over InfiniBand (IPoIB).

provides an overview of the InfiniBand software for both Solaris and Linux Operating Systems.

Appendix A contains information on the InfiniBand cable and connector pin outs.

Appendix B provides an overview of the SunVTStrademark diagnostic software and the ibhcatest test. The appendix also includes some troubleshooting tasks.
