This document provides important information that was not available at the time the Sun Dual Port 4x IB Host Channel Adapter PCI-X Installation and User's Guide (819-1280) was written.
Firmware Versions
The Sun
Dual Port 4x IB Host Channel Adapter PCI-X card supports firmware version 3.2.0 or newer.
Known Issues With the Adapter

On the Sun Fire E6900, the adapter does not plug into the slot-3 PCI connector correctly and applying pressure can damage components on the card.

Use a slot other than slot-3 when installing the adapter in a Sun Fire E6900 server.

On the Sun Fire V40z servers, a performance degradation might be observed while the adapter is used in a 133 MHz PCI-X slot.

Use a PCI 66MHz or PCI-X 100MHz slot instead of a PCI-X 133 MHz slot.

These messages from are logged in /var/amd/messages file. It is possible to override this default behavior and print port up messages to the console by adding the following line to /etc/system file:
set tavor:tavor_port_up_msg_enable = 1
