Introduction

Netscape Calendar Server is scalable, open standards-based calendaring software for efficiently scheduling people and resources enterprise-wide. Among other features, the Calendar Server offers multiple time zone support, a distributed database, mail notification, real-time lookups, free-time searches and multiple platform support. Netscape Calendar Server 3.5 is integrated with Netscape SuiteSpot 3.5, a merger that allows the application to be managed with the Netscape Administration Server 3.5 and, more significantly, offers Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) support through the Netscape Directory Server.

Open standards support helps ensure that Netscape Calendar Server will integrate well with existing environments, and support for Internet mail and web standards allows users without Calendar accounts to be notified of meetings. LDAP integration allows Netscape Calendar Server to share the same user account information with other LDAP-capable servers, including many of the Netscape SuiteSpot servers.

This Administrator's Guide documents installation, configuration and maintenance procedures for the Netscape Calendar Server.

Square brackets enclose commands that are optional. That is, you can omit any text that appears in square brackets.

Angle brackets enclose variables. When following examples, replace the angle brackets and their text with text that applies to your situation. For example, when path names appear in angle brackets, substitute the path names used on your computer.
