This section describes the changes in Sun Fire 15K/12K software add-on components between the release of Sun Management Center 3.5 software and this release of Sun Management Center 3.5 add-on software for Sun Fire 15K/12K systems, Version 2.
All references to documents in this section apply to the Sun Management Center 3.5 Version 2 Supplement for Sun Fire 15K/12K Systems, 817-3625-10, November 2003.
The following bugs were fixed for this Sun Management Center 3.5 release of add-on software for Sun Fire 15K/12K systems, Version 2:
4860962 - Message Displayed by Sun Management Setup Wizard Might Be Truncated
4852731 - Black Splat Displayed in System Table When Failover Is in Activating Status
TABLE 1 lists the software versions required for Sun Fire 15K/12K platform support if you are using System Management Services (SMS) 1.3, and TABLE 2 lists the software versions required if you are using SMS 1.4.

This section lists the required patches you will need depending on whether you are using this release of software with SMS 1.3 or SMS 1.4.
If you want to use this release of Sun Management Center 3.5 add-on software for Sun Fire 15K/12K systems, Version 2, to support the CP2140 system controller with System Management Services 1.3 software, contact your Sun service personnel to determine the SMS 1.3 patches you need.
If you want to use this release of Sun Management Center 3.5 add-on software for Sun Fire 15K/12K systems, Version 2, to support the CP2140 system controller with System Management Services 1.4 software, you need this patch for the Solaris 8 02/02 operating environment:
You need these packages with the Solaris 9 12/03 operating environment:

1. Click on the A-Z Index of All Products.
3. Scroll down and click on Sun Management Center 3.5, Enterprise Systems Products Sun Fire Supplements - Version 2.
5. Log in to the Download Center.

This section discusses any documentation issues that concern this release.
In Table 2-1 of the Sun Management Center 3.5 Version 2 Supplement for Sun Fire 15K/12K Systems, package sizes are removed, packages are rearranged, and corresponding layers are added for ease of use.
This section describes any issues around installation for this release.
You must reinstall System Controller agent add-on software on both the system controllers and the Sun Management Center server to support CP2140 boards.
For a new installation for this release:
1. Log in as superuser on the host machine.
2. Change the directory to the path/sbin directory, where path is the location of the Sun Management Center 3.5 CD or the disk copy of the CD.
3. Install the Sun Management Center 3.5 base software using es-inst or es-guiinst.
4. Change the directory to the path where you installed the base software in Step 3 (installed_directory/SUNWsymon/sbin).
5. Run the es-inst or es-guiinst script again with a pointer to the path where you placed the Sun Fire 15K/12K add-on software for Version 2. Use the disk1 image (addon_path/disk1/image).
You receive a list of add-on products you can install.
6. Select those add-ons that apply to Sun Fire 15K/12K systems, and click Next.

These Release Notes describe known limitations for this release of the Sun Management Center 3.5 Version 2 add-on software for the Sun Fire 15K/12K systems.
If your tape drive is not connected to a storage area network (SAN), you are not affected by this problem.
If you have a StorageTek tape drive attached to a SAN, which is being used by Veritas Netbackup SSO, the Sun Management Center 3.5 Sun Fire 15K/12K Domain Config Reader is not compatible with the Veritas Netbackup SSO implementation. The Domain Config Reader does not issue commands that change the state or tape position of the device. However, because the tape device is attached to the SAN and is not a locally attached device, it can result in a SCSI being reset. The cause of the problem is that two separate hosts both can have devices opened at the same time.
Workaround: If you have this problem, contact your Sun service representative.
The Platform/Domain State Management (PDSM) module needs to describe what is wrong and what causes the error in its error messages.
Workaround: When you see an error while working in the PDSM module, look in these log files to see the status of the operation:
This section describes software bugs that were known at the time of this release and that you might notice or that can affect the operation of Sun Management Center 3.5 Version 2 software for Sun Fire 15K/12K systems.
If you reinstall and set up the Sun Fire 15K/12K add-on software on the server layer, the platform icon might not be visible on the right panel of the Sun Management Center console in various situations.
