Defective Disk Drive

System error message or device code identifies a specific fault 

Check system messages to locate failed drive.  

Halt access to device and power down the device or tray.  

Internal drives: Chapter 7. Tray: tray service manual.  

Set ID code (if used) on replacement device before installing.  

See Table C-2, or refer to drive or array documentation for ID code.

If replaced unit is SPARCstorage Array disk tray or the tray controller board, reset world-wide name (WWN).

Device not identified or intermittent problem 

Run SunVTS. 

Refer to SunVTS User's Guide.

For SCSI device, use OpenBoot probe-scsi-all.

Check cable connection. 

If replaced unit is SPARCstorage Array disk tray or the tray controller board, reset world-wide name (WWN).
