Preface

The Sun Java System Content Delivery Server Installation Guide describes how to install, configure, and run the Content Delivery Server. It identifies required hardware and software and describes the deployment of the Content Delivery Server components. Steps for configuring basic features are also described.

Before You Read This Document

This guide is for system administrators who are responsible for deploying and maintaining the Content Delivery Server. It assumes knowledge of networking, database, and web technologies.

How This Document is Organized

Chapter 1 describes the architecture and components of the Content Delivery Server and describes deployment scenarios.

Chapter 2 describes the hardware and software requirements for deploying the Content Delivery Server. It also describes how to set up your environment for the Content Delivery Server.

Chapter 3 provides instructions for installing the Content Delivery Server system and deploying the components.

Chapter 4 provides instructions for setting up the features of the Content Delivery Server.

Chapter 5 describes how to start and stop the Content Delivery Server.

Chapter 6 provides instructions for uninstalling individual deployments of the Content Delivery Server and for uninstalling all of the Content Delivery Server.

Appendix A describes the format of the configuration file used by the deployment and configuration tools. It also provides sample configuration files.

Appendix B describes the information available for generating reports on downloads.

Appendix C describes the statements used to create the access control file. The Content Delivery Server uses the access control file to determine which systems are permitted to access its components.
