After mounting the Netra j 2.0 CD-ROM following the procedure below, you can install Netra j 2.0 using either the quick installation or the customized installation. The quick installation quickly installs the Netra j 2.0 software, including all patches, on your machine. The customized installation is for experienced system administrators who need to customize the Netra j 2.0 installation.
If you are upgrading to Netra j 2.0 from a previous Netra version, go to "Upgrading to Netra j 2.0 ".
At a Command Tool prompt, enter the root directory as "superuser."
% su Password: # |
Verify that Volume Manager is running.
# ps -ef | grep vold |
If Volume Manager is running, it will be listed as a vold process similar to the following:
root 215 1 0 07:52:06 ? 0:01 /usr/sbin/vold |
If the vold process is not running, initiate Volume Manager. For instructions on how to do this, refer to the Solaris Handbook for SMCC Peripherals available at http://docs.sun.com. From the main web page, click the following links in the order shown.

When Volume Manager is running, insert the Netra j 2.0 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
The Volume Manager automatically creates a mount point for the CD-ROM.
Change to the /cdrom/cdrom0/Tools directory.
# cd /cdrom/cdrom0/Tools |
Use the netra_install script to install the Netra j software.
# ./netra_install |
If a web server was already set up at port 80 prior to the Netra j 2.0 installation, see "Netra j Web Servers".
After you complete the installation, see "Running Netra j 2.0".
Change to the /usr/sbin directory.
# cd /usr/sbin |
Start Admintool by typing swmtool.
# ./swmtool |
The Admintool: Software window is displayed.
Choose Edit Add.
The Admintool: Set Source Media window is displayed.
Select CD with Volume Management if you are running Volume Management or CD without Volume Management as the software location.
Type the path to the source media in the CD path.

The Admintool: Add Software window is displayed.
Make sure the Netra j box is checked.
Check the Solaris 2.5.1 Add-ons box if your system is running Solaris 2.5.1.
If your system is running Solaris 2.6, it already has all the Add-on software.
Optionally, click Customize to deselect packages from either the Netra j or the Solaris Add-ons cluster.
All of the Netra j 2.0 software packages are listed in Admintool.
Click Add.
The Netra j packages are installed on your system.
Ignore the license warnings from the IMAP server during the installation.
Choose File Exit to close Admintool.
