Certain conditions exist for upgrading from Netra i to Netra j 3.0.
Network Services Administration NIS
Netra i 3.1, 3.1.1, 3.2, and 3.2.1 provide only NIS client services. Netra j 3.0 provides NIS server capabilities. To enable existing user accounts for NC log ins, you must configure the Netra j 3.0 server as the NIS master of the NIS domain that is used by the NCs. Refer to the Netra j 3.0 Administrator's Guide for more information.
FireWall-First! 2.0, 3.0
Enable FireWall-First! only on Netra j 3.0 servers with more than one interface, and install it only on an interface that is not used to boot NCs. If you install it on an interface that is used to boot NCs, it will prevent the boot. You must use a Netscape(TM) browser to administer FireWall-First!. HotJava Browser cannot be used for this task.
FireWall-First! 2.0, VirusWall 1.52, WebStalker 1.0.0
These third-party security products are not supported after an upgrade from Netra i 3.1 to Netra j 3.0 on Solaris 2.6.
Netscape Enterprise Server Administration
After an upgrade, the Netscape Enterprise Server remains at port 82. However, you must use a Netscape web browser to administer this web server. HotJava Browser cannot be used for this task.
Netscape Enterprise Server htdocs Directory
Before an upgrade, make a tape backup of the Netscape Enterprise Server (NSE) htdocs directory.
For NSE version 2.0, the directory is: /usr/local/netscape/nse-home/docs
For NSE versions 3.0c and 3.5.1, the directory is: /opt/netscape/suitespot/docs
Restore the directory to the new document root location after the upgrade.
WebStalker 1.0.0
WebStalker 1.0.0 will not run with Sun WebServer.
WebStalker 1.1
WebStalker 1.1 requires a patch, which is installed automatically by the Netra j 3.0 installation script.
