How Labels Are Defined

Label components are defined by the security administrator role in the /etc/security/tsol/label_encodings file. The following table shows the mandatory sections of the label_encodings file identified by the keywords that start each section. The components that the security administrator role defines in each section are described in the rest of this chapter.

Even though information labels are not used in Trusted Solaris 7, the INFORMATION LABELS section must be present and must have a word defined for every compartment that is specified in the SENSITIVITY LABELS section.
