Initially Configure the Machine

1. Do the following procedures in "No Name Service Configuration Tasks", then return to this chapter.

   • "Log In "

   • "Assume the root Role"

   • "Launch a Terminal"

   • One of: "SPARC: Protect Machine Hardware" or "IA: Protect the BIOS"

   • "Create an Admin_High Workspace"

   • "Allocate the Appropriate Device"

   • "Check and Install Your Label Encodings File"

   • "Deallocate the Device"

   • "Initialize the SMC Server"

   • "(Optional) Save the Current Toolbox"
