Known Issues

This chapter describes the known issues with the factory-installed Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 operating system and the recovery media. It contains the following sections:

Missing Multilanguage User Interface Packs after Installation of Windows OS from Recovery Media (6631191)

Depending on the memory configuration, an installation of the Windows OS from the recovery media may fail to include all Multilanguage User Interface Packs. To verify that all User Interface Packs were installed, open the Add or Remove Programs application from the Control Panel. The following items should appear:

If any of the eight languages do not appear, then you can manually install the language support from Disk 1 of the Recovery Media.

Solution

1. Insert Disk 1 of the Recovery Media.

2. Navigate to d:\mui, using Windows Explorer.

Where d is the letter of the CD drive.

The following list shows the language support files:

3. For each language that is missing in the Control Panel, double click on both the language.msi file and the language_R2.msi file from the list to install.

For example, to install Spanish support, double click on both the 0c0a.msi file and the 0c0a_R2.msi file.

AMD PowerNow! Feature Not Available on Factory-Installed Windows OS (6644504)

For AMD-based systems, the CPU driver provided with the factory-installed Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 operating system and on the recovery media does not support AMD PowerNow! technology.

Solution

An updated driver with PowerNow! support is available from the Sun Product Update web site. If a Tools and Drivers CD is available for your platform, it also has the updated driver. Refer to TABLE 3-1 for installation instructions.

Tip - You can quickly access the Sun Product Update web site using the Sun Link application. From the Start menu, choose “Sun Link -- Online Information”. When the dialog appears, click on the button “Check for Updates”. You will be taken to the Sun Product Update web page for your product.
