Directory Server 5.2 2005Q1 is a maintenance release of Directory Server 5.2 2004Q2. The following new features have been introduced in Directory Server 5.2 2005Q1:

The Directory Server commands and Administration Server commands are now documented as man pages. For more information, see Documentation Notes.
The following feature was available in Directory Server 4.x but is not available in Directory Server 5.2:
Password synchronization with Windows. This functionality has been replaced by the Sun ONE Identity Synchronization for Windows product. Version 1.0 of this product will be available shortly after the release of Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2.
Database Backend Plug-in Interface. The enhanced pre-operation interfaces may be used instead of the database backend plug-in interface, to implement plug-ins that are designed to provide access to alternative directory data stores.

In some parts of the Directory Server documentation and console, the version number of the product is referred to as 5.2. Directory Server 5 2005Q1 is a maintenance release of Directory Server 5.2.

Known Issues and LimitationsThere are bugs in the Directory Server 5.2 2005Q1 component that are not specific to Windows but will occur on windows as well as the other platforms. You should refer to the release notes on http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-7611.
