New Features

Solstice DiskSuite 4.2.1 includes the following new features:

• Solstice DiskSuite 4.2.1 supports the new device drivers for the fibre channel driver architecture products.

• Numerous bug fixes enhance the reliability and performance on both SPARC and x86 platforms. These fixes include the following:

  • 4208254 -- Solutions are now offered for the write-on-write problem. Refer to the metainit(1M) man page for details.

  • 4008267 -- Errored logs can now be deleted from a mounted trans device using the metatool(1M) graphical user interface.

  • 4158871 -- Provides information about a device that fails to open. The information is presented in the the device naming format, CnTnDnSn.

  • 4189276 -- No longer get multiple instances of the same disk for dual ported SPARC storage arrays (SSA).

  • 4155935 -- Solstice DiskSuite now shows all available paths to a disk. It also detects when a disk drive is identified by different names.

  • 4191069 -- Replica algorithm now sees device ID (DID) devices as separate controllers.

  • 4221096 -- The SUNWmdg package now can be installed using the jumpstart software.

  • 4181214 -- The mdlogd(1M) no longer reports inaccurate warning messages.

File and Package Relocation

Most Solstice DiskSuite pathnames and package names have changed in the 4.2.1 release. The pathname changes are shown in the following table.
