This section provides the procedure for using the Interactive Installation Program on the Solaris 8 1 of 2 CD to install Web Start Flash archives. You can only install Web Start Flash archives with the character-based version of the Interactive Installation Program. This section supplements Solaris 8 Advanced Installation Guide.
The character-based Interactive Installation program on the Solaris 8 1 of 2 CD enables you to install Web Start Flash archives that are stored on the following:
HTTP server
Network File System (NFS) server
Local file
Local tape
Local device, including CD
Begin the character-based Solaris Interactive Installation by either booting from the Solaris 1 of 2 CD or from a Solaris 1 of 2 CD image on the network. Boot by using the - w argument to begin the character-based Interactive Installation Program.

On the Flash Archive Retrieval Method screen, select the location of the Web Start Flash archive.
The Solaris Web Start 3.0 installation prompts you to proceed, depending on the media you selected.

On the Flash Archive Selection screen, you can select to install layered Web Start Flash archives by selecting New. If you do not want to install additional archives, select Continue to complete the installation.
