Sun Blade 1000 System and Frame Buffer Power Management (4500828)

If a Sun BladeTM 1000 system is configured with a CD-ROM, or a DVD-ROM, and the monitor and frame buffer are powered off, the system will hang during a panic and a core dump will not be saved.

Workaround: Disable power management of the CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM, on a Sun Blade 1000 system. Follow these steps.

  1. Add the following line to the /etc/power.conf file.

    % device-thresholds /pci@8,700000/scsi@6/sd@6,0 always-on

    Note -

You must disable power management in the /etc/power.conf file for any additional removable media devices that you have attached to your system. For more information on determining and disabling additional removable media devices, see power.conf(4) and prtconf(1M).

  2. Reboot the system, or type the following on a command line.

    % pmconfig

For more information, see pmconfig(1M).
