About the Sun™ Grid Rack System for HPC

The Sun Grid Rack System for HPC is an integrated, scalable assembly of compute nodes with hardware management and interconnect housed in a free-standing, single, commercial rack cabinet. The Sun Grid Rack System components work in concert to provide a high performance and highly available environment to run business and mission critical applications.

The Sun Grid Rack System ships fully assembled and cabled to ensure quality in-rack cabling and reduce installation time. The compute nodes are preinstalled with the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS) , or the Linux OS if ordered. Sun Grid Rack System components are pre-tested for fast and easy deployment out-of-box. Customers have considerable flexibility in choosing components for a Sun Grid Rack System. A system configuration can consist of two compute nodes in a rack or be a fully populated, fully functioning hardware and software stack with each node connected to management and data/provisioning fabrics, and each node and switch connected to a terminal server for serial port management and secure access.
