Upgrading Java ES Shared Components

This chapter provides information on upgrading shared components for Sun Java™ Enterprise System (Java ES) 2005Q4 release.This chapter contains the following sections:

Upgrade Plan for Shared Components

You are provided with a single patch which contains the patch for all the above specified shared components.

Selective Upgrade is not possible with this Shared Component patch. All the shared components which are installed on the computer will be upgraded. If any additional product components are installed after installing the patch, the shared components patch needs to be run again for upgrading the additional shared components.

General Upgrade Procedure

To upgrade the JES3 shared components to JES4 shared components, follow the steps below,

  1. Stop all the services for the product components installed on the computer.
  2. Run the <Patch-id>.exe for installing the Patch.
  3. Start the services which are stopped earlier.
