Release Notes for the GNOME 2.0 Desktop

These release notes contain information relevant to the GNOME 2.0.2 Desktop for the SolarisTM operating environment. The GNOME 2.0.2 Desktop is being delivered with the Solaris 9 operating environment.

What's New

The GNOME 2.0 Desktop included with this release of the Solaris operating environment contains several bug fixes which were not in the previous release of the GNOME 2.0 Desktop. These fixes make the desktop environment more usable, more stable, and facilitate development activities. The major fixes are as follows:

GNOME Desktop Features

The GNOME 2.0 Desktop embodies a familiar desktop metaphor that enables you to interact efficiently with the applications and documents you use every day.

Before you install the GNOME Desktop, make sure that you have the following manual: GNOME 2.0 Desktop for the Solaris Operating Environment Installation Guide. Known Issues and Solutions

There are issues with the following applications:

ScrollKeeper Issues

There are a number of installation, upgrade and live upgrade situations where the installation process for the GNOME 2.0.2 Desktop does not build the ScrollKeeper database. ScrollKeeper fails because dependent software is not available during Jumpstart, upgrade and live upgrade situations. To resolve this issue, implement the workaround documented in the GNOME 2.0 Desktop for the Solaris Operating Environment Troubleshooting Guide, Chapter 2 Installation Problems.
