2 Running Sundiag

Sundiag is a software program that will exercise your system to verify the functionality, reliability, and configuration of your SSHA card. Run the Sundiag program before attempting to use your new card for applications.

The SSHA card runs under Sundiag Version 2.0 and above. This chapter provides a brief set of instructions for running the Sundiag program. For more detail, see the Sundiag User's Guide for either SunOS 4.x or Solaris 2.x.

2.1 Running sundiag

    1. Exit any window mode that you are in, such as SunView (in SunOS 4.x only) or Open Windows.
    2. Bring up the Sundiag window.

    SunOS 4.1.x:

--------------------------------
% /usr/diag/sundiag/sundiag & --------------------------------

    Solaris 2.x:

--------------------------------
% /opt/SUNWdiag/bin/sundiag & --------------------------------
    3. Select the device that you want to test (sd4, sd5, sd6, sd7, st2, or st3).
    1. Start the test.
    2. Verify that no errors have occurred by checking the Sundiag status window.
    3. If no problems occur, stop Sundiag. Your SSHA card is ready for running applications.

2.2 Next Step

If you have installed your SSHA card into a SPARCstation2, you can boot directly from your SSHA devices after performing the steps outlined in Chapter 3, "Booting from SSHA Devices."

If you have installed your SSHA card into a SPARCstation 1, SPARCstation 1+, or SPARCstation IPC, you will not be able to boot directly from SSHA devices until Open Boot PROM Version 2.0 becomes available for these systems.
