The SPARCstation 10 system unit has an Attachment Unit Interface (AUI) port
on its back panel. You use either of the following cables to connect the
SpeakerBox to the system unit:

If your system does not connect to a thick Ethernet cable, connect the
SpeakerBox cable directly to the AUI port on the system unit back panel.

If your system connects to a thick Ethernet cable, connect the the
SpeakerBox cable to the audio port of the optional AUI adapter cable.
Note -
The optional AUI adapter cable has two ports. Both ports are labeled
with icons. The audio port is labeled with an icon that shows a loudspeaker, as
in the example above.
To install the SpeakerBox and SunMicrophone to your SPARCstation 10
system, see the documents that are packed with these two audio devices. This
chapter gives you performance specifications for each audio device.
The SpeakerBox comes with your SPARCstation 10 system unit. It provides
16-bit audio quality and input/output (I/O) functionality to the system. The
SpeakerBox supports Soundtool and MultiMedia Mail.

The SpeakerBox meets the following specifications:

Voice audio input via an external SunMicrophone with sensitivity to pick up
human voice of 50-70 dB @ 1 meter with a frequency response of 100 Hz to
5 kHz, 4 dB minimum

Audio output via a loudspeaker with minimum output of 85 dB @ 1 meter
over a 200 Hz to 10 kHz range, 5 dB range

Audio distortion of the power amplifier output will be < 0.5% THD

Audio output at 85 dB @ 1 meter = approximately 5% THD (complete
system with loudspeaker)

Full 16-bit/48 kHz sampling rate audio functionality

Stereophonic Line In and Line Out gold-plated jacks

The SunMicrophone comes with your SPARCstation 10 system unit.
