This chapter explains:

4.1 Removing the Cover and Attaching a Wrist Strap

Caution -

Make sure that the power switch on your Multi-Disk Pack is in the off (O) position and that the power cord remains plugged in to the Multi-Disk Pack and to the power source.

    1. Remove the Phillips-head screw in the lock block.

    Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver. Refer to Figure 4-1.

    2. Grasp the cover with your fingers over the sides. Pull the cover up
    and off.

    3. Wrap the wrist strap with the conductive adhesive tape twice around your wrist. Refer to Figure 4-2.

    Make sure the adhesive side is against your skin.

    The wrist strap is a device that provides grounding between your body and the chassis of the system unit for static electricity. Electric current and voltage do not pass through the wrist strap.

    4. Attach the end with the adhesive copper strip to the metal casing of the power supply.

Caution - If you do not wear a wrist strap, boards, cards and modules can be damaged by harmful electrical charges.

Note - The power cord must remain connected in order to provide necessary ground path for the wrist strap.

4.2 Detaching the Wrist Strap and Replacing the Cover

    1. Detach the adhesive copper strip from the metal casing of the
    power supply.
    2. Unwrap the wrist strap from your wrist.
    3. Position the cover over the unit with the front of the cover oriented over the front of the base.
    4. Tilt the rear of the cover up. Carefully slide the cover towards the rear of the unit.

Caution -

The front of the cover is fragile. If the tabs do not hook properly on your first attempt, do not force the cover to the rear of the unit or down. Remove the cover and attempt to position the tabs until the tabs are hooked.

    5. Install the lock block at the rear side of the unit. Tighten the Phillips- head screw that secures the lock block in place.

    Use a Phillips screwdriver. Refer to Figure 4-5.
