Chapter 5 docs.sun.com Icons, Controls, and Indicators

This chapter describes the icons, controls, and indicators that appear on the docs.sun.com Web site.

Note –

When you access books for products that are being Beta tested, the docs.sun.com Web site requests a password. When the product is released in its final version, you no longer need to provide a password to access these books.

Navigation Icons, Controls, and Indicators

Three types of symbols help you navigate the docs.sun.com Web site:

Control 

Clicking this symbol expands the associated item to reveal content.

Shows an icon of a negative sign (-) that you can click to conceal displayed content for one item

Control 

Clicking this symbol collapses the associated item to conceal content.

Shows an icon of two plus signs (+) that you can click to reveal more content for all listed items

Control 

Clicking this symbol expands the content of all list items.

Shows an icon of two negative signs (-) that you can click to conceal the content of all listed items

Clicking this symbol collapses the content of all list items.

Shows an icon of an arrow pointing towards the right that indicates an item of interest in a list

Indicator 

This arrow points to the item of interest in a list.

Shows an icon of an arrow pointing upwards that indicates the current page in a series of pages on which matches are displayed

Indicator 

This arrow points to the current page in a series of pages on which matches are displayed.

Indicator 

In a list of search results, these symbols indicate the relevance of items to your search criteria. The solid red dot indicates the most relevant documents.
