Chapter 3 Installing a Language Version

This chapter provides information about installing a language version of the GNOME 2.0 desktop.

Disk Space Requirements

Disk space requirements per language version of the desktop are as follows:

Tarball: 

70 MB 

Unpacked files: 

130 MB 

Each language version therefore requires free disk space of 200 MB for installation.

Location of the Download Packages

You can find the localization download packages at the following location: http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/gnome

Unpacking the Installer

Use the same process to unpack the language version installer, as for the English-language installer. For further information, see To Unpack the Installer

Installing the Language Version

Use the same process to install the language version of the desktop, as for the English-language version. For further information, see Chapter 2, Installing the Desktop.

Installing a Localized Desktop With a Jumpstart Script

You can use the Jumpstart scripts described in Installing the Desktop With a Jumpstart Script to install localization files of a localized version of the desktop.


Note –

The Jumpstart scripts install all localization messages and Help files included in the tarball. Refer to Disk Space Requirements for the required disk space.


Uninstalling Localization Messages and Help Files

Use the same process to uninstall localization messages and Help files, as for uninstalling the desktop. For further information, see Uninstalling the Desktop
