Setting Global Options

Before you can define the global settings for all the applications you will deploy to the iPlanet Application Server, you must have the Users and Groups defined in the LDAP Directory Server.

To set the Global Options:

  1. From the Tools menu, select Global Options.
  2. Select the iPlanet Application Server Settings to display the Properties.
  3. Enter the appropriate data for each field.

    Debug Output Level: This field controls the debug output of the tool. Enter a number from 0 to 6.

    Where:
    0 = dump
    1 = verbose
    2 = info
    3 = warning
    4 = error
    5 = critical
    6 = assert

    The higher the number the fewer the debug output messages. Setting the level to 4 outputs all the programmed error messages. Any number greater than 6 disables the output.

    iPlanet Application Server 6.0 Installation Directory: This is a read-only field identifying the location where the iPlanet Application Server is installed.

    Security Role Groups: Identifies the global security role groups that are referenced in iPlanet Application Server specific descriptors. A security role group defined here can be mapped to roles by any J2EE. Be sure to set the role groups to the same settings as defined in the LDAP.

    iPlanet Temporary Directory: Identifies the location where the iPlanet Application Server stores temporary information it uses (for example XML files). It is recommended that you do not edit this field.

    Security Role Users: Identifies the global security role users that are referenced in iPlanet Application Server specific descriptors. A security role user defined here can be mapped to roles by any J2EE module. Be sure to set the role users to the same settings as defined in the LDAP.
